Thinking About the Journey

I was reading through some notes I have saved and came across this quote from Richard Rohr.

“If you surrender to the fear of uncertainty, life can become a set of insurance policies. Your short time on this earth becomes small and self-protective, a kind of circling of the wagons around what you can be sure of and what you think you can control–even God. It provides you with the illusion that you are in the driver’s seat, navigating on safe, small roads, and usually in a single, predetermined direction that can take you only where you have already been. For far too many people, no life journey is necessary because we think we already have all our answers at the beginning. ‘The church says, the Bible says, etc.’”

(Richard, Rohr, The Naked Now)

Christmas at the Beach

We are enjoying our time in Gulf Shores with the Crocketts. The weather has cooperated and the fishing has been good. There has been time on the beach. We visited the Battleship Memorial in Mobile and Fort Morgan. We even did a little Christmas shopping at the outlet mall in Foley. We do not expect a white Christmas but there is suppose to be rain. I sure hope Santa has a rain suit.

A Special Birthday

Today is Ryan Dean Gabehart’s birthday. Happy Birthday.

Of course all birthday’s are special but today is Ryan’s 16th birthday and that is very special. He is looking forward to enjoying the privileges that come with this milestone. Of course, the most important is privilege is being permitted to drive a car. I am excited for him and his parents.

I am praying for all of you.
